The penalty for changing Lewis Hamilton's gearbox pushes the world champion to the back of the grid. But, in reality, it's only a five place drop - the McLaren MP4/24 just isn't up to the job.
"Something broke on the rear of my car on my second flying lap in Q1," Lewis explained. "I just lost all drive in the gearbox and couldn't continue."
The "something" was fourth gear, and he was unable to go for a third run in Q1, or compete in Q2. As Martin Whitmarsh says, there's a lot of work to do: "The reality is that we've made progress in the past couple of weeks, but clearly not enough."
