On the grid in Melbourne

This afternoon the drivers parade did away with the usual flatbed truck or classic cars. Instead, they waved to the crowds from a convoy of fire engines, as Victoria pays respect to the firefighters who extinguished the sprawling forest fires that affected this area recently.

It did get me thinking that, if there was a fire and they got the call, we might not have any drivers competing today as they'd all have been rushed off to a burning warehouse or something.

Anyway, I've just been down to the grid. The cars are being prepared by the teams and there are just a couple of minutes to go before the start. I had a chat with John Button, Jenson's dad, and he said I might need to resuscitate him after the race. He confirmed my belief that the main challenge with come from Barrichello, and the car is good enough to stay dominant for the next four races, before it will need extra modifications.

I also bumped into Ross Brawn, Michael Schumacher and Dannii Minogue. Here are my pics:

Excellent read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on that. And he actually bought me lunch because I found it for him smile So let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch!
