Here we go again...

Wednesday is now upon us. The season starts here for me - I fly to Bahrain tonight. The start of a new season brings mixed feelings.

On the one hand, with Schumacher back (and with Brawn), and the battle of Britain down at McLaren, there's an awful lot to look forward to.

On the other hand, I'm about to leave home for five weeks. When you're busy chasing F1 drivers round the place, knocking back cocktails on the other side of the world, and doing what it takes to earn a living there's little time for getting homesick. But packing for the first race still feels like when I was packing for the start of term at boarding school.

Actually, F1 is just like boarding school - there are lots of rules, some bullying, and fun stuff too like sport and midnight snacks. It's also very expensive!

I suppose I'd better get around to packing...
